We are recruiting for a Customer Care & Sales Executive to join our Customer Services team.

The Customer Care & Sales Executive role is to receive and process orders, to support business development through outbound telesales, or other requested mechanisms, and to ensure the customer experience of Dodson & Horrell is truly first class.

The Customer Care & Sales Executive will also provide nutritional and technical advice, supporting customers and staff, to increase sales and support the company’s high profile within the equine market.   Nutritional support will be provided by direct customer contact as well as via email and telephone.    The role will require the achievement of set sales targets and business KPI’s (Key Performance Indicators).


  • Educated to degree level / graduate calibre with an equine / animal science qualification at BSc level is strongly preferred. 
  • If a general animal science degree, then evidence of specialisation in equine, for example work experience or MSc is required.  


  • Significant nutritional and practical experience of equines and a knowledge of and keen interest in canine products and brands is desirable.
  • Previous experience in a customer facing role is desirable.
  • Previous sales experience is desirable.
  • Experience of working in a target driven environment and meeting sales targets is desirable.

  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • A keen interest in and knowledge of the equine and pet categories.
  • A confident telephone manner to enable successful outcomes to objections.
  • Proactive approach to problem solving and day to day tasks.
  • Good keyboard skills and computer literacy – intermediate level of MS Office software.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to organise and prioritise workload.

We can offer:

  • The opportunity for further study and work experience to increase skills and qualifications to enable progression to the roles of Area Sales Manager or Performance Horse Specialist.
  • Salary will be dependent on experience and qualifications and will be in the range of £17,000 to £25,000 per annum.
